Today, on October 1st, we reach out to you with a heavy heart. After 15 unforgettable years, the era of Snow Volleyball in Wagrain-Kleinarl is coming to an end.
Changing circumstances, particularly since the 2020 pandemic and in the years that followed, have made it impossible to continue hosting the event. With this in mind, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Snow Space Salzburg, the Wagrain-Kleinarl Tourism Association, and the local businesses that have supported us unconditionally throughout this journey.
A special thank you goes to Christoph Baumann, who believed in this vision as early as 2008, and Stefan Passrugger, both of whom played a crucial role in developing the event in Wagrain. We also want to sincerely thank the landowners, especially Josefine Gruber (Kogelalm), Josef Gruber Jr. (Gifthütte), and the Kaswurm family (Gipfelstadl), who provided invaluable support, particularly in the early years.
Wagrain-Kleinarl will forever be the birthplace of Snow Volleyball, and we can look back on the past 15 years with great pride. Since 2009, thousands of schoolchildren and athletes from all over the world have made their way to Wagrain to play volleyball on snow.
It is very important to us to personally share this message with all partners and supporters of recent years to express our sincere gratitude for your continuous support. In the coming weeks, we will take the opportunity to personally say thank you in Wagrain for the incredible time we have shared.
When we launched the Snow Volleyball project in Wagrain in 2009, our goal was always to create an extraordinary event for the people of Wagrain. Snow Volleyball has not only contributed to Wagrain’s development as a tourism destination, but it has also shaped us as individuals. These years have been intense, challenging, and full of invaluable lessons, taking us around the world – from South Korea to Argentina, the USA, Iran, and even Australia.
The sport will live on, and athletes will continue playing Snow Volleyball across the globe – all thanks to the unwavering support of the people of Wagrain.
Now, it is time to embrace new paths, because standing still is never an option – no matter what lies ahead!
